This dish was invented in Chicago in the 1960s. Lorena Lorusso conceived it while working in a small boutique that sold gourmet goods and served hot chocolate. One day, he got the wonderful idea of placing a strawberry in the chocolate cup. He allowed it to firm and set before presenting it as an innovation, giving rise to the famous chocolate strawberries. Since then, several chocolate-coated fruits have been utilized as dessert.
Fresas con chocolates, despite being one of the simplest and cheapest sweets to make, chocolate is one of those exquisite, bite-size treats that everyone likes. Fresas con Chocolate Ingredients
- 100g dark chocolate , roughly chopped
- 400g strawberries
- 30g white and milk chocolate , roughy chopped (optional)
Fresas con Chocolate recipe step by step
- Remove and set aside a strip of baking parchment.
- To melt the dark chocolate, fill a small saucepan partly with water and bring to a simmer. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl on top of the pan, ensuring it does not come into contact with the water.
- Continue swirling the chocolate to melt it. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in the microwave in 20-second bursts until thoroughly melted, stirring after each burst.
- Melt the chocolate in a small deep bowl.
- Dip the strawberries in the chocolate while holding the leafy tops. With a rag, wipe away any excess chocolate and place it on the parchment to set. If you have any leftover chocolate, pour it onto a fresh strip of paper and save it for later.
- If you wish to dress up the strawberries, melt the white and milk chocolate and lightly sprinkle it over them.
Keep Fresas con Chocolate or chocolate-covered strawberries in a cool area. You can store them in the refrigerator, uncovered, for up to one day on the same baking sheet where you dipped them. If you’re serving them the same day you make them (which is advised), keep them uncovered on your counter, away from sunlight and heat.
