What is Chicken Adana?

Chicken adana, also known as Adana kebabı, is a popular Turkish kebab made with chicken and hot peppers from the city of Adana in southern Turkey. The dish can be cooked on an open flame or cooked on an upright rotating spit called şiş, which means skewer in Turkish.

The word adana itself refers to the type of mutton or lamb used to make this dish, which comes from male sheep between three and five years old that have been fed on grain and are therefore leaner than other sheep, making the meat even more tender than usual when cooked.

Chicken adana is an easy and delicious Turkish dish that can be made at home with some simple ingredients. It is typically made with minced chicken, garlic, onion, tomato paste, red pepper flakes, olive oil, paprika, pepper and salt. Other possible additions to the dish include parsley or cilantro.

The combination of these ingredients result in a moist and flavorful dish that goes great on its own or can be served over rice or bread as well. For those who have never tried it before, this dish has a spicy taste due to the red pepper flakes and paprika so it is not for those who do not enjoy spicier foods. If you love spicy foods then you will love chicken adana because it does not contain any heat but still has all of the flavor.

Additionally, it is not difficult to make and requires only a few basic ingredients which are likely already in your kitchen. The best part about this dish is that you can use either skinless, boneless chicken breast or thighs depending on what your preferences are.

Chicken Adana endnote

Adana kebab is one of the most popular dishes in Turkey. It's made from cubes of seasoned meat that are grilled on a skewer and served with bread, red pepper paste and an assortment of salads.

The word adana comes from the city of Adana, where it is believed to have originated. Kebab originates from the Arabic word kabābu, which means to grill. You can replace the lamb with chicken or beef for this recipe if you prefer.

Lamb is traditionally used because of its high fat content, but it doesn't take long to cook so be careful not to overcook. Also, don't let the red peppers overpower the other ingredients- they're just there for color!
