We are pleased to notify you that applications for Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships are being accepted by eligible candidates from institutions as part of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a Federal Government agency tasked with fostering indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the demands of the oil and gas industry.

Scholarships for study in China, Germany, or France will be given to the selected individuals, starting with the upcoming academic year.

PhD and MSc Scholarships from PTDF Scholarship for Strategic Partnerships

By giving applicants access to a diverse body of knowledge and the resources provided by top universities throughout the world, the Strategic Partnership Scholarship was created to enhance the Funds’ Overseas Scholarship Program.

The Fund has established strategic partnerships in Germany, France, and China because it recognizes that the best education can be found across borders. Through these partnerships, candidates will have the chance to study in English-taught classrooms and conduct research in top-notch facilities, all while experiencing new cultures and work environments.

Candidates may apply through PTDF to particular programs at partner institutions in any of the three countries under this plan (a complete list of funded courses is given below).

The grant covers the cost of airfare, health insurance, tuition, and bench fees (if applicable), in addition to providing allowances for living expenses and expenses related to housing.

Language instruction will also be a part of the programs to help the students adjust to their new surroundings. Please be aware that the Fund will be in charge of getting the candidates admitted to the programs they have chosen.

Guidelines and Requirements for the Selection Process of PTDF MSc and PhD Scholarships

Only applicants who exhibit exceptional performance across the board are chosen for PTDF scholarships, which are extremely competitive. The following criteria will be used by a selection committee to evaluate applications:

• Academic merit as demonstrated by the caliber of degrees obtained, complete academic transcripts, additional professional certifications obtained, and pertinent publications that the candidate (PhD applicants only) will cite.
• Participation in professional associations
• The feasibility of the research or study plan.
• In order to justify their scholarship, applicants must submit a statement of purpose (no more than 500 words) outlining their motivation for the study, its applicability to the sector, and its anticipated influence on national growth.

Requirements for PTDF MSc and PhD Scholarships

M.Sc

• A Second Class Lower (2.2) with appropriate industry experience, or a minimum of a Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree
• Needed to have fulfilled the required National Youth Service (NYSC)
• Computer literacy is required.
• Five O-level credits, one of which is in English language.

Ph.D

• Needed to have fulfilled the required National Youth Service (NYSC)
• Computer literacy is required.
• An excellent second-degree certificate and a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree;
• Must submit a five-page research proposal that is pertinent to the oil and gas sector and includes the following: subject, introduction, goal, approach, and data collecting mode;
• Additionally, applicants need to attach their master’s project.

• NYSC discharge certificate
• WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results, and the application forms’ PIN numbers so that PTDF can access the O-level results on the appropriate website).
